Bu Fei E Jiao Tang
English Name: Tonify the Lungs Decoction with Ass-Hide Gelatin

Actions: Nourishes yin fluids, tonifies the lungs, stops cough, stops bleeding.
Traditional indications of this Chinese herbal formula include: Cough with wheezing, dry and parched throat, scanty or blood-streaked sputum.
Tongue Image: Red tongue body with little coating.
Pulse: Floating, Fine, Rapid.

Designed to treat yin deficiency with empty fire damaging the lung zang, this will in many cases cause blood-stained sputum. Note that the original formula calls for ma dou ling, due to the toxic nature of this herb it is replaced by sang bai pi in this formula.
